We are very excited for the family reunion coming up this summer: Carl and I have been hard at work figuring out how to squirrel away reunion funds to buy jet skis how to make this a fun and uplifting reunion, so we're excited to see you all. Here's the important information:
Dates: We will not be able to reserve campsites until September 26, so we have not locked down the final date. However, we are set for either June 26-29 or, if that's not available, July 10-13. Again, June is our first option, but we won't be able to reserve the sites for another week.
Schedule: We went for a balance of unstructured free time and planned activities, and we think we hit a sweet spot.
Wednesday- Everyone shows up in the afternoon (or, more likely, the evening/midnight)
Thursday- In the morning, we will have the Taylor Family Games. The afternoon will be free time. In the evening, we'll have a fireside/variety show (look for a sign up sheet in the near future)
Friday- Morning free-time, then the beach in the afternoon. Depending on fire regulations, we'll have a bonfire in the evening (with no formal program). The third generation will have a meeting about the next reunion.
Saturday- Congratulations! You survived. Time to break down camp and re-charge for 2021.
Food: Everyone will be responsible for their own breakfast and lunch. Dinner on Wednesday night will be provided by the reunion: I plan to be their early, and I'll start grilling up hot dogs and hamburgers (and we'll have chips and potato salad to go with it). Friday night, the second generation will be bringing sub sandwiches for everyone to enjoy at the beach. Thursday night, we will have a DUTCH OVEN COOK OFF! Anyone who wants to compete is allowed (though we'll need a minimum number to make sure everyone gets fed), and dishes will be judged for a variety of categories! Prizes will range from a candy bar to a candy bar wrapped in an American Dollar!
Money: Jet skis Reunions aren't cheap. If we want to keep this going into the future, we'll need your help! Every second and third generation family member needs to contribute. The price is $50 for individuals, $150 for each married couple with one or more children. Payment can be made to our family treasurer, Kathleen, in a couple of ways.
